2020

Racing in Pink all started with my cousin being diagnosed with breast cancer. I decided to run a fundraiser to support Breast Cancer Research. Doc Racer, Lee Marks and I (Craig Harris) as riders were booked in to do a 4 hour endurance race at Donington park. Alongside us for support were Fern Maclachlan, Alex Laidlaw, Elliot Peach, Ant Surtees and Max Richards (as pit crew). We decided to wear pink to support my cousin and try raise what we could to help out. To our surprise, the race paddock was so lovely and supported us in what we were doing. After only 3 weeks of fundraising, we sent our 1st donation of £1061.63

2022

With covid hitting the UK and a lot of the country coming to a stand still for so long, 2020 and 2021 put a stop to any crowds being allowed at club racing. This unfortunately, put a stop to our fundraising. So when 2022 came and we got the news that our well loved club photographer Jenny Wells had lost her short battle with the disease, the time to reignite the Racing In Pink fire had come. With a bike being donated by Gary Cutts our 1st bike raffle came to light.

We reached out to the BSB paddock and was overwhelmed with the support we received from riders such as Jason O'Halloran, Bradley Ray, Leon Haslam, Tarren Mckennzie, True Heroes Racing, Billy McConnell and Ash Barnes, just to name a few, all giving merchandise for us to raffle off.

We held our event at Castle Combe race circuit, where once again the support of the paddock, NG Road Racing and Castle Combe staff was amazing with raffle tickets flying out. Our memorial lap, along with the support of the commentary team, put the word out amongst the race fans and paddock alike and helped us raise an amazing £6953 for Cancer Research UK. The bike raffle saw G Tuplin become the winner and owner of the Suzuki Bandit race bike with him brining the bike back into the paddock and his brother Dan Tuplin making his debut in 2024.

2023

2023 saw us as bike racers determined to beat our previous fundraising efforts and make it the best year yet. The year started off great, with a second bike being donated by Joseph Saubolle. Joseph Saubolle funded and built the bike with his automotive students at Sabden Academy in Bexhill on Sea, with donations of parts from Lightenupgrade and GB Racing.

BSB Stars such as Peter Hickman, Billy McConnel, FS3, Jodie Fieldhouse, True Heroes Racing and many more all giving up prizes for this years raffle. After spending the 1st 5 months of the year planning the event, things took a turn for me personally, as I was involved in a racing incident at Donington park. I was involved in a bike during a crash at coppice, leaving me unconscious. After the paramedics did their work, I woke up 5 mins from Queens Medical and was left with a bleed on the brain and a severely squashed right arm.

This is where the paddock really came to the help. With great help from the NG Road Racing team, Chris Edwards, Daniel Tuplin and Richard Hewitt, we soon got things back on track. Richard Hewitt took the 'back on track' quite literally, running a lap of Anglesey Race track in nothing but trainers and his fetching pink mankini. This raised over £300 from the paddock- who I'm not sure were donating to stop him or to see him do it.

With Anglesey behind us we moved on to the main event at Cadwell Park, where Hewitt once again put an idea forward (you will begin to see a theme here). He wanted a Beauty Pageant, but not your average beauty pageant, this one involved all us bike racers swapping our leathers for a dress and high heals. We even managed to blag, a reluctant Harley Prebble from the BSB F900 cup to join in. It was a great laugh and even saw the NG Road Racing Race Director Mr Steve Bostock getting stitched up by his wife Selena, as she announced over the microphone in the club house, that if we could raise an extra £100 in 30 mins she would make him swap cloths with one of the contestants. Needless to say, 30 mins later there was 3 times more in the kitty and Mr Bostock switched clothing.

The night alone raised over £1000 and was well worth the blisters from the high heals. Sunday came and with our parade lap being headed by F900 star Harley Prebble, the fans all got behind us and with raffle tickets selling all weekend and donations coming in, we smashed our PB and raised an amazing £7104 for Cancer Research UK
